Tarangire National Park
Tarangire feels different from the Serengeti. Instead of endless grassland, the landscape is shaped by huge baobabs, woodland, open plains and the Tarangire River.
The park is particularly famous for elephants. During the dry months, wildlife gathers around the remaining water sources, creating excellent opportunities for close encounters and photography.
Because of its location, Tarangire also works well as the opening or closing park on a northern circuit safari. It can be combined naturally with Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
For travellers who want wildlife but also care about scenery, Tarangire is one of the strongest northern circuit stops.
Best for:
Elephants · Baobabs · Photography · Short safaris · Dry-season wildlife
